As a teenager, fascinated by comics, TV series and films from the 70's, Marc FERRERO has a proven gift for drawing, he will be accepted at the Beaux Arts, but will not recognize himself in the proposal of this school, he then decides to walk in Art as a self-taught. Also gifted for sports, he opts for a career as a high level sportsman, for him sports is the school of life. As a young adult, drawing takes an increasingly important place in his daily life, he creates characters, universes, stories that allow him to escape. He decided to stop his sports career and travel to develop his imagination in order to create stories and bring his own characters to life.
At the age of 26, with the beginning of a scenario in mind, Marc FERRERO settles in BRUSSELS to present his first drawings to different comic publishers. In the meantime, he won the Olivier STRELLI prize for his storyboard "Art in the City". His meeting with a Parisian gallery owner will be decisive, because he understands that in order to be visible and tell stories to the greatest number of people, he must leave the world of comics for that of contemporary art, and express himself in large formats.
Marc FERRERO will then begin a long apprenticeship of painting: graphite, charcoal, black and white, gouache, acrylic and finally oil paint and its infinite possibilities... He will study the history of Art and will try to understand the artists he admires.
But it is in his encounter with the cinema and the great directors, like Martin SCORCESE, Sergio LEONE, Francis Ford COPPOLA, Charlie CHAPLIN, Woody ALLEN, etc... that he draws his inspiration, what would be the use of his technique if it were not in the service of a good story.
Through his works, Marc FERRERO wants to transmit a message in the form of a story, to allow the spectator to identify with his characters and to initiate a reflection. He wants to make painting in tune with its time by basing himself on the heritage of the history of Art, by finding other sources of inspiration in the cinema in particular. It is then that fusion imposed itself on him, present in all other forms of art, it was not in painting, it will be necessary to mix graphics in the same work, to put the movements at the service of the narration, to play with the framings and the depth of fields.
His first exhibition was held in 1992, where he presented his project "Once upon a time, the COMITIVE ", a romantic adventure that featured his three main characters on large canvases: Lisa L'Aventura, the queen of metamorphosis and her world, Glamour, Duke, the mathematical eye, an English dandy and jazz fan, and Cello, the master of timing, a polo professional and tango dancer.
Thinking he was ready to enter the art market, he participated in his first contemporary art fair in New York in 1999 where he lost his savings and his illusions. His work is nothing like what he sees around him, decorative art or conceptual art reserved for an elite, his art tells a story to the public, it is understandable, narrative, emotional ...
Back from New York, Marc FERRERO, resolutely avant-garde, decides to create the STORYTELLING ART movement and opens his own gallery. The public success is immediate, he is present in the gallery, takes the time to explain his work, uses his gallery as a laboratory to listen and retranscribe the emotions, the public who trusts him participates in his story.
After the resounding success of his first solo exhibition in Florence, where the entire exhibition (75 paintings) was purchased by a single collector, exhibitions followed in MILAN, ROME, London, NEW YORK, PARIS and KYOTO. To date, 10,000 works are in private collections around the world. The concept of STORYTELLING ART has attracted major brands such as Hublot, with whom he has developed a collaboration over the past 4 years, and he maintains very close contacts with the world of cinema, a scenario is currently being studied in LOS ANGELES for a film or series adaptation.
